Our Story
Yuzu Honey began in 2022 when Founder John Prince experimented with a small batch of yuzu infused honey using fresh yuzu he found at a local farmer's market. Inspired by his Mother's Japanese heritage, John set out to source the best Australian grown yuzu.
John contacted Jane and Brian from Mountain Yuzu in the foothills of the Australian Alps in North East Victoria.
United by a shared love of Japan and top quality produce, Mountain Yuzu became the perfect partner to supply Yuzu Honey with the best quality Australian grown cold climate yuzu.
Today, we supply Yuzu Honey to a range of retail partners and have done collaborations with the likes of Goodwood Bakery, Crescent Croissantarie and Zini Gelato.
Our Timeline

2019
John founded Rooftop Bees, an urban beekeeping business that installs and maintains beehives on corporate buildings across Australia.
John left his full-time corporate job to focus on the new business.

2022
John purchased a case of yuzu from Mountain Yuzu to experiment with a cold infused yuzu honey.
The first batch was a resounding success with family and friends saying they had never tasting a honey this good.
Yuzu Honey was born.

2024
Yuzu Honey was gaining momentum and we launched our new branding and product packaging.
We won Gold at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show scoring 93/100 which was equal second in the category.

2025
We partnered with Compass Group to exclusively supply our honey into corporate kitchens and pantries for some of the biggest companies in Australia.
We are now planning for the next phase of growth with a new production facility and seeking distribution partnerships.
